This is an album of unreleased tracks made between 2015 and 2019. Quite a lot are from a series I call "Real World Sketchbook" – quick audio sketches I make when I go away somewhere, almost always using audio samples of the place and sometimes made out in the field using either an iPad or iPod, a number of music making apps, and whatever ambient sounds are around. The results end up being very personal to me and are very much rooted in a specific mood, time and place.

In February 2018 my student daughter, Emeline, had a sudden major seizure and after various scans she was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. Over the course of the last year, she has faced major brain surgery to remove the tumour, the discovery that the tumour was actually cancerous, six weeks of radiotherapy and twelve monthly chemotherapy cycles. Needless to say, this has had a major impact on both her and us as a family. Emeline is currently a young ambassador to the Brain Tumour Charity offering help and advice to other young people who are in her situation. As we have learnt, brain tumours can affect anyone, young or old, and given the nature of them (i.e. they are in your head) they are very hard to treat and diagnose so supporting both the medical research and support for people diagnosed is incredibly important.

I wanted to do something to both raise awareness and money for the Brain Tumour Charity since they have been essential in helping my daughter since her brain tumour diagnosis. So, for Advent 2019, a time for looking forward in the Christian Church, a track a day was posted into this album.
